Gladheart Black HarrisGladheart Black Harris (2005) is a black stallion by the AMHA Sport Horse Award recipient DJJJ Ebony Gold out of our foundation mare, Rogue's Midnight Melody. Even as a colt, "Maus" demonstrated remarkable strength and balance.  With a natural overstep at the walk, loft and balance at the trot and a ground covering, expressive canter, he gives the impression that he could go on forever. This young stallion has the bone, correct legs and the overall conformation necessary for a sporthorse, as well as having the breed-type that identifies him as all-Morgan.

Gladheart Black HarrisMaus’ ability is not by accident. His sire, DJJJ Ebony Gold, has proven himself a versatile and talented Morgan sporthorse: placing 4th in the 100-day North American Warmblood stallion testing at November Hills Farm in 1991, AMHA Open Competition “Top Ten” in Singles Carriage Gladheart Black Harrisand In-Hand in 1989, and in 1998 Ranked 19th nationally at USCTA Training Level. In 2000, Ebony Gold earned multiple championships in the East Coast Trail Riding Association, and was awarded the coveted AMHA Sport Horse Award.  Maus’ dam, Rogue’s Midnight Melody, is also from strong Morgan sporthorse stock as she is closely related to both Rogue’s Hill Galaxy (USDF All-Breeds winner at Prix St. George) and Rogue’s Flight Time (Morgan Dressage Association Award of Excellence, Second Level), as well as being the dam of our own USDF All-Breeds winner and AMHA Bronze Medallion recipient, Gladheart Linhawk.

Gladheart Black HarrisMaus has been started under saddle and is showing many of the qualities we had hoped for both physically and mentally. He was introduced to his first open dressage show in the spring of 2010 after only four months of serious work undersaddle and easily scored well into the 60s at both Intro and Training Levels while turning exhibitors heads with his good manners and distinctive Morgan-type.

As has been traditional for Morgan horses, Gladheart Black Harris takes his name from historic roots.   The original Moses “Black” Harris was a renowned Mountain Man who guided wagon trains over the Oregon Trail, rescued an immigrant party that had become lost on the high desert of eastern Oregon. Harris eventually built a cabin not far from our farm.  Moses Black Harris proved himself to be a man of remarkable strength, endurance and courage.  We believe Gladheart Black Harris has many of the same qualities and plan to continue his dressage .
