At his first open Oregon Dressage Society League show, he won his Training Level 1 Maiden class (13 entries) with a score of  70.5% and “8’s”on the quality of both his trot and canter work.  He consistently scores in the upper 60s at Training Level; winning his Training Level Test 4 Class at the 2007  Oregon Morgan Classic and qualifying for ODS Year End Awards.  He is currently being schooled First/Second Level and has begun his First Level career with a second place ribbon and a 65% this spring in open competition.

Gladheart Sonata

(Whippoorwill Newmoon X Rogue’s Midnight Melody)

Gladheart Sonata is our first foal from the Whippoorwill Newmoon (1994 and 1996 Morgan Grand National Reining Champion) X Rogue’s Midnight Melody cross and shows the proven athletic ability of both her sire and dam.  Sonata moves uphill, showing strength and power at all three gaits, as well as having  a well-deserved reputation for “always knowing where her feet are” due to her remarkable cattiness.   Sonata has an excellent work ethic and has been shown and ridden out on the trail.  She is also a proven broodmare, as demonstrated in the exceptional quality of her first foal by Whippoorwill Aristocrat (Gladheart Santiam).  She is currently in foal to Kell’s In Kirby’s Honor of Kansas Bluestem Morgans.

Bulo Dakota King is the one of the first horses we have owned and will always have a special place in our hearts.  Our first dressage horse, our first family horse, excellent trail partner and always the mount of choice for the Birthday Party and Sunday School kids.

Although gentle and safe for beginning riders, “Bert” has earned scores in the 60’s and 70’s in Training /Intro-level dressage, and has earned praise for his open, powerful trot.  He is the horse anyone can ride—from schooling Dressage to giving kids their first experience on the back of a horse to out on the trail.  Bert is a true example of the best of the Morgan breed:  an outstanding ride, an intelligent, bold mind and a heart ten times his size.

Gladheart Black Harris

(DJJJ Ebony Gold X Rogue’s Midnight Melody)

DJJJ Ebony Gold

Gladheart Black Harris (“Maus”) is a 2005 colt by DJJJ Ebony Gold X Rogue’s Midnight Melody.  DJJJ Ebony Gold  (Prince Cobra X Rosena Bird) is a black, 16 hand stallion that has proven himself a versatile and talented sporthorse: placing 4th/14 against warmbloods in the 1991 100-day North American Warmblood stallion testing (106.36: a 113.74 in Jumping and a 101.37 in Rideability), AMHA Open Competition “TOP TEN” in Singles Carriage and In-Hand in 1989, and in 1998 Ranked 19th nationally at USCTA Training Level.  In 2000, Ebony Gold earned multiple championships in the East Coast Trail Riding Association, and was awarded the AMHA Sport Horse Award.  Rogue’s Midnight Melody comes from strong sporthorse lines and has consistently produced strong, athletic and talented foals.

Black Harris already demonstrates the best qualities from both parents:  strength, bone, size, excellent disposition and exceptional athletic ability.  His breeding is also unique, with multiple lines to the golden “Flyhawk x Sentola” cross through  Stetson, Warhawk, The Airacobra and Top Flight.

As has been traditional in the Morgan Horse, Black Harris’ name comes from historical roots.  The original “Black Harris” was a renown mountain man that had lived for a time in the 1840s in our area of Oregon.
